Tip for Analyzing Your Survey Data Using Graphs and Cross-Tabulations

Posted in: Blog, Tips and Tricks by admin on August 29, 2009

Very recently, one of our users deployed a survey successfully and then wanted to use our survey analytics tools to analyze the retrieved data. The problem was that one of the questions that they had asked was “How Old Are You?”. Not that there’s anything wrong with asking that question, but, they had asked this question by using a “text response question”. In other words, respondents would type in their ages into the text field. The problem arises when you try to graph such data or use it in a cross tab. Some of the respondents ended up typing in “50 years old” while others may have written “forty-five” while another person may have written “forty five” (i.e. without the “-”). As you can imagine, because this data has no uniformity, it can’t be used in a graph or in a cross-tab. If this question were to be used in graphs/cross-tabs, it would have had to be posed as “Choose the age-range that you are in from the choices below” and been asked as a drop-down or multiple choice question. If the question would have been posed as such, there would have been a lot more that could’ve been done with the analytics tools.

Takeaway: Don’t use text response question types if you intend to analyze that data using graphs / cross-tabs.

Question Morphing – Changing One Survey Question Type into Another Without Re-creating It

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on

A common mistake that survey programmers make is that they build a question as a radio button question and then realize that what they really wanted to do was create a checkbox question type. One of the many nice things about FluidSurveys is that it is flexible enough to allow you to simply change the radio button question that you already created to a checkbox question type without loosing any of the changes that you had made. To learn how this works, please watch the video below:

Skipping to a Specific Question in a Survey

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on

One of the more common questions that we receive from our users is “can we implement skipping to a particular question in a survey”. The answer, of course, is a resounding yes. FluidSurveys is flexible enough to skip to questions and pages within your survey. By default, all skipping is done on a page by page basis. If you want to skip to a particular question in your survey, then you need to a page that has only that question. If you want to see how this works, please view the following video below:

Move Questions From one Survey to Another – Copy and Paste

Posted in: Blog, Uncategorized by admin on August 28, 2009

Sometimes you’ll have questions in one survey that you’d like to use in another. It would be quite tedious to have to recreate those questions. It would be really nice if you could simply copy them from your other survey and paste them into your new survey. The good news is FluidSurveys allows you to do this quite easily. FluidSurveys has a very easy to use right click menu that you can use to copy your questions from one survey or even a given version of a survey into another survey.

Pricing Plans and How to Upgrade Your Online Survey Account

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on

We haven’t yet written an official blog post that talks about our pricing plans and how to upgrade and so now is an appropriate time as ever. We currently offer a few different pricing plans. The goal for each one of these pricing plans is to offer you more than what our competitors offer you at a lower price.

Our Basic Plan works well for whomever is doing a survey that may have some skipping/branching questions but doesn’t require anything complicated such as multi-condition branching, looping, data extraction, piping, etc…

The Ultra Plan includes everything that the pro plan does except it has all of the extra features that you’ll need in order to make more complicated surveys (i.e. including piping, looping, data extraction, multi-condition branching, etc…).

The Enterprise Plan is really aimed at groups of 5 users that need panel management, spss, ssl and role management capabilities.

The question then arises: what if you wanted panel management or spss export options or other things that come with the enterprise plan but don’t need 5 user accounts? The good news is that you can get all of these options as add-ons. Simply contact us directly and we can add compatible options to your plans.

Here is a video where we talk about some of the pricing plans offered by FluidSurveys:

Change/Remove the Progress Bar from Your Online Survey

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on August 27, 2009

Progress bars are a very cool addition to any online survey tool – including FluidSurveys. While progress bars may be great, there are cases where you just don’t want them to be there. The good news is that with FluidSurveys, you have the option of determining whether or not you’d like to see your progress bar. Further to that, you can even change the way that your progress bar looks. Sound exciting? Well, it is.

The following video will show you how all of this works:

Bullk Import of Choices into Your Online Surveys

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on

We constantly see organizations that have been creating surveys for many years and have a battery of choices that they’d like to use in their questions. For example, let’s say that you are conducting a survey where you’d like to ask your respondents which color they’d prefer to see for a number of different sections of a big house. You’re going to be showing the same set of colors for each of the questions. It would be annoying to have to type in these choices every time. It would be really nice if you could create your own custom bulk list of choices. This way, any time you wanted to ask someone to choose from a list of colors, you could simply import your previously created list.

Creating, Reusing, and Sharing Online Survey Templates

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on August 26, 2009

Survey templates are a very useful tool as they don’t require users to start from scratch when creating a survey. The nice thing about FluidSurveys is that it not only comes with survey templates (a list that grows as time goes on) but also offers users the ability to create their own survey templates. These survey templates can even be shared with colleagues – giving you ultimate flexibility in the process. Take a look at the video below to get an idea of how this works:

Changing the "Thank You", "Terminated", and "Quota Reached" Page

Posted in: Blog, Tutorials by admin on

In any survey that you construct, there are 3 pages that typically get shown that are of importance:

Thank You Page: Shown when one of your respondents completes the survey

Termination Page: Shown when you determine that one of the respondents in your survey does not qualify to take the survey (i.e. outside of your target audience).

Quota Reached Page: This is the page that is displayed when you have reached the number of responses that you desired for the particular survey.

The good news is that FluidSurveys not only allows you to change the content on these pages but also allows you to specify redirect pages for these pages as well.
