Top 10 Reasons Why We Love IE6 (Internet Explorer 6)

Posted in: Blog, Uncategorized by admin on September 28, 2009

As you know, we here at FluidSurveys try our very best to make sure that our software works with Internet Explorer 6. We have lots of corporate clients and they use IE6 – so we don’t have much of a choice in the matter :) In any case, rather than complain about it, we embrace it and we’ll have fun with it too! This is our gift to the web developers accross the world who work just as hard as we do to make their web applications cross-browser compatible. Cheers!

Cherokee Web-Server SSL Setup

Posted in: Blog, Uncategorized by admin on September 25, 2009

Over the last couple of days we have been running into quite a few issues regarding our SSL certificate in Internet Explorer 6. Once we made sure all of the media on our site was coming from a valid SSL source, our certificates worked fine on all browsers aside from the dreaded IE6. Though this is becoming less and less of a concern to many people, we here at FluidSurveys still work hard to support those die-hard fans who for whatever reason refuse to give up the browser war and continue to side with the six.

Posted in: Blog, FluidSurveys in 60 Seconds by admin on September 22, 2009

Well, this episode of FluidSurveys in 60 seconds is unique in two ways: a) it is longer than 60 seconds b) we used a green screen to do the shoot. We’re having a lot of fun at the office shooting this weekly video and we have some very exciting stuff coming for you for next week’s video…. hint: it’s about IE6.

Greetings Everyone!

We’re very excited to announce that we are kick-starting something that we’ve been wanting to do for a while now… We will now be doing a weekly show to talk about the latest and greatest things that are going on in the company, introduce our team members, and give you some insight into what we are all about. We have the coolest product on the market and now we’re doing video! We feel that in this day and age, we don’t get to meet most of our customers in person and they don’t get to meet us. The goal of “FluidSurveys in 60 Seconds” is to get our customers to meet us more personally. At the same time, we encourage our customers to send us video messages and we’ll gladly post them on the blog as well. This will give us an opportunity to interact face to face – in a very new-age sense :)

Top 5 Reasons Fluid Surveys is the Best Way to Create Online Surveys

Posted in: Blog, Uncategorized by admin on September 11, 2009

I love this question… the answer is probably not what you expect.

In the past we’ve covered (in this blog) some of the features that make FluidSurveys a great way to create online surveys. The reason is simple: we’ve spent the last few months working really hard to grow our online survey software by adding tremendous value through great features: conditional branching, export to SPSS, random skip logic and more, the problem is that for the the average Jimmy, Sally or Susie… well, that may not be so important. Sometimes, Jimmy, Sally or Susie care about a company that responds, that interacts, that helps, that puts them first. Let me tell you, in my opinion, why Fluid Surveys is probably the best (and coolest) way to create online surveys:

1 – We are on Twitter

FluidSurveys on Twitter!

One Time Fee Survey

Dear FluidSurveys Friends,

The time has come. We listened and we heard you when you said that you wanted to see us build a one time fee survey option into our pricing model. We are in the process of finalizing this payment option and in the next few hours you will see it in our website.

The pricing model will be very simple. You pay a one time fee and you will be able to create a survey with unlimited responses. You can access the data gathered with this survey at anytime. You can continue gathering data with this survey until you please. The only thing we request is that you log into you account at least once every six months so that we know that your account is valid.

Google Forms vs SurveyMonkey vs FluidSurveys – Feature Comparison

Posted in: Blog, FluidSurveys - News by admin on September 3, 2009

Today’s post from TechCrunch that talks about Google Forms was very interesting. We were very glad to see that Google Forms had decided to improve their offering. Google forms, the way we see it, helps us explain to our niche why FluidSurveys is the best online survey tool in its niche.

Take for example, some of the reasons why you should choose FluidSurveys over Google Forms or SurveyMonkey (see table below). Now, the software titles all have overlap areas and SurveyMonkey and Google Forms are clearly great tools and are looking to reach the largest audience possible and therefore offer features that appeal to the masses. They haven’t focused on building some of the advanced features that are used for advanced research (essentially more niche features). This is where we step in.

SurveyMonkey and Google Forms each have their own place in the market and while we are all very comparable on the basic features, FluidSurveys tries to develop all those extra features that our users can’t find anywhere else. Of course, there is also our easy to use drag and drop interface which is pretty cool as well :)

So, what are some of the differentiating features of FluidSurveys (i.e. things we have that the other tools don’t)?

FluidSurveys
Advanced Branching Yes
Piping Yes
Looping Yes
Data Extraction Questions Yes
Export to SPSS Yes
Random Skip Logic Yes

Skipping to a Random Page in a Survey? Branching based on Random Logic…

Posted in: Blog, new survey feature by admin on

Random Survey Question

We had 2 webinars today and one of the attendees had this very interesting feature request – skipping or branching to a random question or page on a survey. We liked the feature idea so much that we’re currently working on building it right now. Nate is working away at it as we speak and it should be up on FluidSurveys.com shortly!

The idea is the following. Let’s say that you had 4 different sets of questions and you wanted each of your respondents to answer 2 of the 4. The tricky part is that you want them to answer a random 2 sections out of the 4. For example, one of your respondents could potentially answer sections 1 and 3 while the other respondent answers sections 1 and 4.

We’re working away at it now and it should be available soon! Yes, we’re really fast at building new features :)

btw, if you have any ideas for features that you’d like to see as part of FluidSurveys, do let us know!

[update: this feature is live now!]
