Why would I use this? If, for instance you would like to know a series of financial projections for “Money Spent On Support” from Last Year, This Year and Projected Next Year with a Validation of “Must equal 100%”. Or, you would like to know percent spent, total amount of money, inventory count, etc… These are but a few of the possible scenarios where a 3D Matrix question with Sum Validation would come in use. Great! But, how do I add a 3D Matrix question with sum validation to my survey? Now that you know why you’d like to have a 3D Matrix question with Sum Validation, it’s time we went ahead and set it up within your survey. First, double click, or use our drag-and-drop feature, on the 3D Matrix question and then click on “Column 1″ under “Columns”. Switch the column type to Text Response, and then set the appropriate Validation type under Additional Options. Note: The Total Row will appear when a Sum value has been provided. In the example below, there is Percent Validation, and Currency Validation with a Sum Total of 100% and $150 respectively.
Now, when the user completes each text response type within the 3D Matrix question, Row 1 and Row 2 under Percent Validation do not add up to 100%, the user is presented with an error message stating that they must correct the mistake. We hope you all enjoy the newest feature added to the Ultra and Enterprise plans and we look forward to all the other features and improvements that we continuously roll out for you to enjoy. * The 3D Matrix question type is available on all Ultra plans and above. See our pricing page for more detail.
