The advent of online surveys has allowed market researchers to gather data from people all around the world. However, there may be people out there who want to skew your data – using automated ‘bots’ giving pre-set responses, effectively spamming your survey. The wise minds on Internet have dealt with this issue already – many ‘human tests’ have been created to prevent spam-bots from submitting online forms. One of the most-popular versions of these ‘human tests’ is ReCaptcha – and now we’ve integrated ReCaptcha into FluidSurveys!!
How does it work? You simply need go to your publishing page, choose settings, and go to “Access Restrictions”:
Here, you can select to have no ReCaptcha, or to have your survey entrance or exit gated by a ReCaptcha. Please note: while logged into your account, you won’t have to fill out a ReCaptcha. If you’d like to see it in action, you’ll have to log out before going to your deploy URL, or use a different browser (or Private Browsing mode).
To complete the ReCaptcha, you simply need to type in the text shown in the image. Its hard to read- but that’s the point! Automated software can’t read it, so they can’t submit your survey. You don’t want to prevent real humans from submitting either, however – so if they make a mistake, they simply get to try again!
