Randomize Answer Choices

Posted in: Features, Free, Question Options by admin on November 29, 2009

For some question types such as multiple choice questions, matrix questions, dropdown questions, etc… you have to specify the choices that people can choose from in a given order. In order to prevent bias, you will sometimes want to show the choices in a different order every time someone takes that survey. The “randomize choices” option will (when enabled) perform this function for the question that you have applied it to.

How to Use:
Any question type that supports this functionality will also have a checkbox that you can check or uncheck (i.e. enable or disable) that will specify whether the choices should or should not be randomized for respondents. The “other, please specify” choice is never randomized and will always appear as the last option in the list. This option usually appears in the options tab for each question (on the left side of the survey editor).
