FluidSurveys integrates with Shopify. New Surveys App for your Online Stores!

We’ve been a fan of Shopify since day 1 and so we’re proud to announce that we’ve just released our FluidSurveys Shopify App. If you are running a Shopify online store, you’ll be able to install the FluidSurveys app and send surveys (think Net Promoter® Surveys) to your customers. If you’re not familiar with Shopify, they create software to allow you to create an online store in minutes. If you’re thinking of selling anything online, you should check them out!

The coolest thing about the app is that not only do we provide a default net promoter® survey that Shopify users can send out to customers, but we also allow users to create surveys of their own and customize them to match their shop’s look and feel. Super Cool? You bet.

So, once you’ve created your surveys, how do you send them out to customers? Well, you can send it out to them manually but a better way would be to set up something we call “Order Based Triggers”. This function allows users to send out surveys to customers after the order has been fulfilled. For example, you could have the survey be sent out automatically as soon as 14 days have passed since an order has been marked as fulfilled.

1) Installing the FluidSurveys App in Your Shopify Store

1.1) Head on over to your Shopify App store and find the FluidSurveys app. For a limited time, we’re offering the app free of charge – so take advantage of this offer!

1.2) Once you click on the login button, the app will ask you to approve the monthly fee associated with the app (if you sign up during our beta period, this should be $0).

1.3) Now you should be entered into your FluidSurveys account page! Yaay :) As you can see, you should have a default survey in there. Currently, this is our fancy Net Promoter® Survey. If you want to check out what it looks like, just click on the “Preview” button shown below and you can see the various pages of the survey. There is skip logic programmed in the survey so if you choose a “9″ or a “10″ on the first page, you’ll see different questions on the second page than you would if you had chosen an “8″ or below.

For your convenience, here is what the first page of the survey would look like (you can obviously customize these questions and the look and feel – here is a similar survey we built to see what you think of the FluidSurveys App for Shopify):

If the respondent chooses a “9″ or a “10″, they are considered a “Promoter.” Promoters will then see the following page after they press the “Next” button:

Now, you’re an awesome store owner and so all of your customers will definitely choose “9″ or “10″… but, hypothetically speaking, if a respondent does happen to choose a “7″ or “8″, they would be classified as “Passives.” If the respondent chooses a “6″ and below, they would be classified as “demoters.” Demoters and Passives would see the following page as page 2 of their survey:

Your net promoter score® is calculated by taking the % of Promoters and subtracting from that value the percentage of “demoters.” A good NPS® score is a 70% and above – you can also check the web to see NPS® scores for each industry.

2) How to Send Surveys Directly From Shopify (both automatically & manually, your choice)

2.1) Now, head back to your list of apps on Shopify and click on the “preferences” link for the FluidSurveys App:

This should take you to the page below that allows you to set up automatic delivery options for your surveys. Automatic delivery options or “Order based triggers” as we call them allow the system to send out surveys to your customers automatically when an order that you received on your Shopify store is marked as “fulfilled.” You can set these triggers to send out a survey immediately after an order has been fulfilled or even set a time delay (i.e. send out a survey 2 weeks after the order has been fulfilled). Click on the “Add Trigger” button to set this up.

You’ll be able to have surveys sent out with the impetus of certain triggering events:

  • Order Created
  • Order Paid
  • Order Fulfilled
  • Order Updated
  • Order Cancelled
As you can imagine, you can create various types of surveys that can go out upon the occurrence of the events mentioned above. In this example, we’ll just use “Order Fulfilled” and we’ll have the survey be sent 14 days after this event. If you have more than one survey on your account, you’ll see that in the list. We currently only have one (i.e. the Net Promoter Survey) and so we’ll choose that one.
Now, you can customize the email message that’ll get sent out to your customers. Make sure to modify the “from” field, “subject” and message body.
Once you save this trigger, you’ll be directed to a summary page that lists all of your triggers:
2.2) Now, let’s head on over to the “Orders” section in your Shopify account. Here, you’ll see that there is a link to go back to the page where you can set up your “Survey Triggers” described in the previous steps
On this same page, you can select any number of orders and send those customers a survey directly on the spot (i.e. without having to send out scheduled survey invites):
There’s also an important checkbox that you should probably also pay attention to. This checkbox prevents any one customer from getting an email twice (i.e. just in case they have more than one order associated with their name):
If you click on any one order, you’ll go to the order details page where you’ll also see a link to send out a survey. You’ll be able to send out a survey to a specific order through this method:

3) Configuring Your Survey Further – More on FluidSurveys!

3.1) So, now that you know what your survey looks like and how to send it, you’re probably wondering, is there a way for me to add my own logo and perhaps change up the look and feel and maybe make some CSS changes while I’m at it? Good news. We’ve got that too! All you have to do is click on the “Style” button in your account:

Now click on the following link to take you to the themer:

Using our themer below, you’ll be able to customize any aspect of your survey’s look and feel, upload a logo or even make CSS modifications:

3.2) Ok, so now that we’ve seen how to modify the look and feel of a survey, how do we take a look at the results? Start by clicking on the “Analyze” button:

Now create your first report (you can create as many reports as you want):

This is a sample of what your report will look like… As you can see, we calculate your Net Promoter Score® for you!

3.3) Now if you wanted to make changes to the publishing settings of your survey (for example, change the page that the respondent is taken to when they complete the survey), just click on the “publish button”.

You can change the “complete-redirect” page just referred to by clicking on “settings” and then choosing the “redirection” link:

3.4) You can also at any point either create a new survey or edit a current survey.

3.5) If you need more help on FluidSurveys, you can see the following resources:
