Showing/Hiding Rows in 3D Matrix Questions

As we’ve seen in our other blog posts, you can use our advanced branching tool to hide or show various questions depending on previous responses given by the user. This same logic is also available to use with our 3D Matrix questions! You can hide or show a row, column or variable within the 3D Matrix question based on the response to another question!

In order to show or hide and element of a 3D Matrix question, all you have to do is..

-Make sure both/all of the questions you’re using have been given identifiers
-Have the 3D Matrix question on a page after the question you are going to be branching off of
-Use the Survey Logic Wizard on the ‘Page’ tab in order to create your desired branching

Example to clarify:

Question 1: Multiple Choice

Question 2: 3D Matrix

You can then have the branching state that if the respondent chooses, let’s say, “House” as their answer to Question 1, then once they get to Question 2 they will only be shown that particular row in the Matrix question. The rows indicating the number of bedrooms for an apartment or a condo will not show up to the respondent.
This is helpful in the sense that, you, as the survey creator, only have to produce one question containing the elements needed for each housing situation as opposed to creating 3 separate questions.

Here is an example of what you might want your branching logic to resemble (and replicating this for each housing situation):

*Advanced branching available with Ultra and Enterprise accounts
