As a PhD Student at Laurentian University, Sudbury, ON, in the Human Studies Department, I invite you to participate in a research project entitled: A comparison of environmental attitudes between home and public schooling families. Your participation is much appreciated and upon completion of the survey, you may enter a draw for a gift certificate at Chapters bookstore in the amount of $100.

Please review the following information regarding your participation in my Laurentian University PhD research project: A comparison of environmental attitudes between home and public schooling families.

The purpose of this research project is to examine environmental attitudes of homeschoolers as well as those involved with public school. The study is intended to provide information to benefit environmental educators who may be interested in how Canadian families who are experiencing different types of education feel about the environment. There are no risks to you for participating in the study other than those associated with 10 minutes of computer use.

The online survey will take approximately 10 minutes of your time. At the end of the survey, you will be asked to ‘tell a friend’ and you will also be asked if you are interested to participate in a follow up interview. Your participation in all parts of this study is strictly voluntary. You have the right to withdraw at any time without penalty. If you wish, you may decline to answer any questions without penalty.

If you have any comments or concerns about your rights as a research participant, telephone the Research Officer at (705) 675-1151, ext. 3213. Your identity will not be revealed at any time. Any data associated with this study will only be presented as aggregated results (for example, as averages) and any identifying information will be removed. None of the contact information you provide as part of this survey will be used for any other purposes than this research project and will not be shared or made public at any time.
