Product Category Rule Repository

ACLCA (the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment) plans to build an online Product Category Rule (PCR) Repository that contains validated North American PCRs in it. PCRs are the documents that specify how to calculate and disclose Type III environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) These ecolabels disclose the life cycle performance of products and services. The purpose of the repository is to have high-quality PCRs available in one place to support the use of EPDs at all levels of the economy. PCR international guidance currently being developed under ACLCA’s leadership will be the basis for determining whether PCRs meet the quality requirements of the repository. We are evaluating our options for funding this repository: the system needs to sustain itself financially. We do NOT want to pursue charging fees to those seeking the PCRs, because we view that as a barrier to the creation and adoption of EPDs. We are seeking opinions to help us decide how to set the system up to best serve the needs of the LCA community and the public. First, please let us know something about yourself
