HCS Book Club Review Form

HCS Learning Commons invites all students to submit book reviews to our learning commons to encourage other readers in their literary journey.

You might ask what is a book review?

A book review is both a description and an evaluation of a book. It should focus on the book's purpose, contents, and authority.

Scan the book to gain a feel for the following criteria:

1.  Title- What does the title suggest?

2.  Preface or worldview- This provides important information on the author's purpose or worldview in writing the book.

3.  Table of Contents- Is the book well laid out and does the flow happen naturally, are ideas developed well sequentially?

Consider also the author's style of writing along with the author's authority on the subject.  You might want to make a few notes on the themes, plot and setting without giving away too much information.

You might want to ask yourself the question does this book leave a lasting impression?  Does it compare with other books on similar topics?

We thank you for your contributions in advance and look forward to seeing your thoughts on literature:)  Please complete the form if you are stil interested.
