Survey Restrictions: Session, IP, Cookie, etc…

38

It is important to restrict access to a survey based on the conditions under which you will be deploying your survey. There are a few options available when using FluidSurveys.

You will be able to put no restrictions on your survey (which essentially means that a person can take you survey multiple times from the same computer). This option generally works well if you are deploying your survey on a set of computers from which many people will take the survey (think computers set up at an event).

You will also be able to restrict the taking of a survey to once per computer. This restriction is done on a per session basis (i.e. it will use cookies). This is the most commonly used restriction method for taking surveys.

You can also restrict responses to once per household/office by turning on the “restrict by IP” option. Finally, you will be able to restrict the taking of a survey on a per user basis. If you send out your invites using our email system, each user will get a custom invite link that the survey can be taken from. You can choose to allow the person to edit their survey answers or only submit the survey once from each custom URL. With this option, you can ensure that the people who you invited to take the survey are truly the ones who did end up taking the survey.
